Not Keen on Dean

The Orioles find themselves with their back against the walls in a win or go home game at the Texas Rangers tonight in the ALDS.

The Game three starter in Dean Kremer.

Now I have nothing against Kremer who ended the regular season well but emphasis on regular season. This is no longer the regular season. This is the postseason. This is win or go home. Seems like there must be a better option.

Veteran righty, Kyle Gibson seems like the obvious answer to start game three. While he has a light postseason pitching appearances, he is still a wily veteran who has been in hostile situations before making high leverage pitches. He can tap into some of those experiences that only years of MLB service can provide.

We all witnessed what happened to Grayson Rodriguez, who again finished the second half hot, in game two so just trying to avoid that tonight. Hope to see Rodriguez pitch again in this series though now that he got the jitters out of the way.

There are a few things on the Orioles side here though like they haven’t been swept in forever, the bats finally woke up and they play well on the road. The Orioles have not been swept since Adley Rutchsman came up so 91 straight series without being swept.

The O’s offense unfortunately became stagnant at possibly the worst time in the last two weeks of the season averaging below three runs a game over the span but even with the disappointing loss on Sunday a huge positive is the bats came alive while a little too late they still scored eight runs. Now how do you score 8 runs and lose is a whole other story.

The Birds are 52-29 on the road compared to 49-32 at the friendly confines of Camden Yards.

The hope is that the boys of summer can take some of that Orioles magic on the road, but the question still lingers why pick another young pitcher to start the biggest game of these young Orioles season?

O’s Manager, Brandon Hyde, is about the only person on Earth right now that can answer that burning question but let’s hope Hyde has the right ones.
